This section introduces technical information on the FIWARE platform available to support the participant to the CreatiFI call.
What is FIWARE ?
- develop 3D user interfaces
- perform 3D object manipulation
- connect to the Internet of Things
- process data and media in real-time at large scale
- perform BigData analysis or incorporate advanced features to interaction with the user
- and many more
Availability of open source Generic Enabler implementations (GEis) will accelerate availability of multiple commercial FIWARE providers, all supporting the same set of APIs. As a result, FIWARE becomes an open alternative to existing proprietary Internet platforms. Therefore you’ll be able to decide who will operate the environment where your application and, even more important, your data will be hosted.

The FIWARE Lab is an example of FIWARE instance available as a free experimentation environment where developers can build their applications using available FIWARE GEri instances, or dedicated instances they can deploy on their own. It not only allows them to experiment with FIWARE technologies, but test and showcase their applications with real data and users, making it easier to catch the attention of potential customers and investors.
What are Specific Enablers?
FIcontent is a EU-funded project that offers FIWARE Enablers dedicated to media and content. These Specific Enablers can be used by developers and SMEs to build their applications for Social Connected TV, Smart City Services or Pervasive Games. FIcontent is part of the FIWARE initiative, which offers Generic Enablers, dedicated to more common issues such as security, cloud infrastructure, etc.
FIcontent initiative aims at developing and experimenting across Europe cutting edge ICT platforms devoted to applications and services in the areas of social connected TV, smart city services, and pervasive games.
Catalogue of Media & Content Enablers complements the FIWARE catalogue of Generic Enablers, with a set of technologies mostly useful in 3 main areas of applications.
For developers, FIcontent created the FIWARE Media & Content Lab: a unique place to discover the FIWARE Media & Content Enablers with live demos, to test and tweak them directly in your web browser, but also to run your applications.
